Hurricane Katrina... and Rita

Those of us who were spared the wrath of Hurricane Katrina count your lucky stars. And those of you who were not, I hope that your lives are pieced back together as soon as possible. Even though life will never be the same.

I thought that my family in Texas was in danger during Rita. I called home incessantly hoping that all was well and that they had packed and prepared and were all going to get out of harm's way. It ended up that Rita curved and missed my family's house. They barely got a half an hour of rain. This time we were lucky.

But here's a thought. What one thing would you take with you if you had to leave your home knowing that you may (and most likely will) come back to a slab of concrete with remnants of your life scattered for miles around? Well... besides family, pets and pictures. What would you take with you? What is that one thing that is so precious to you that cannot be replaced?

Just some food for thought.
